Styrofoam Concrete Form

Styrofoam concrete form, concrete foam forms, foam concrete forms all refer to the new technology for forming concrete also known as ICF foundation or insulated concrete form. This building concrete

forms is a major step forward from the standard plywood form, simon forms, aluminum forms, or gang form.

Concrete formwork especially foundation walls are very time consuming, difficult, and expensive to do. Renting simon or aluminum forms can cost between $1.50 to $2.50 per square foot of wall for a 3 week period. Add on top of that the time to learn how the panels, corners, fillers, pins, ties, etc work if you are a diy enthusiast.

Loading and unloading the form on site is a major burden due to the panels' weight. Form assembly is another difficult task to learn for someone new because of the need to use fillers where necessary. These are skills that require time to develop.

The 3 weeks rental period seem long but for diyers, it may take two weeks just to assemble the forms on top of a few more days to plum, brace, straighten prior to the pour. Once the wall is poured, comes the most difficult part, disassemble and cleaning the forms. These may take 3 or 4 more days and load them to return.

The chances for extra charges outside of the normal rental fee are extremely high. From missing pins to bent forms and/or unacceptable cleaning of the forms and late return are reasons for extra charges. For a diyers that is new to concrete formwork, the final cost can easily double. That's why most contractors hire a subcontractor to do concrete foundation wall forming.

Concrete foam forms provide a much better alternative to form rental. First the installation compared to simon or plywood forming foam concrete forms will take less than half the time.

Second Styrofoam weight significantly less than simon or aluminum forms – this benefit the installation, and moving around on the job site. Lighter foam will make shipping and handling a lot easier.

Third styrofoam concrete form will have zero removal time because they will stay in place as insulation. With standard form method such as simon forms, adding insulation will be extra cost on top of to install.
